Inspection And Trouble Shooting

In many cases, after designing, installing and operating cathodic protection systems over time, these systems have suffered a series of defects and have lost productivity or in many cases are unable to protect the structure.

Decreased productivity and non-protection of cathodic protection systems during operation can be due to:

  • Added surface of protected structure due to development plan
  • Changing coating characteristics and increasing coating breakdown
  • Changing environmental conditions and electrolyte properties
  • Defecting cathodic protection equipment (transformer rectifier, anode, cable, etc.)
  • Defecting electrical insulation equipment

In these conditions, firstly, evaluation of structural conditions, environment and cathodic protection system is required, and later detection and removal of defects is essential. Some of these assessments and tests include:

  • Evaluation of chemical composition and measurement of environment resistivity
  • Evaluation of leakage current
  • Evaluation of the existence of stray and induction currents
  • Evaluation of anode bed
  • Determination of required current for cathodic protection

Borna Electronics Co. with over 30 years of experience in cathodic protection, declares its readiness to inspection and trouble shooting of cathodic protection systems for structures and equipment in various industries and provide effective solutions to them.
