Liquid Polarization Cell

Usually, the equipment of the earth connection system is uncoated and causes leakage currents in the vicinity of the cathodic protection system. This affects the performance of the cathodic protection system and reduces its efficiency.

Polarization cells have been used to address this issue, their task being to prevent the cathodic protection current from passing and the very low resistance current (AC) to the earth connection system. Polarization cells with a voltage of 1.5 to 2 V have high resistance to direct current passing through the cathodic protection system to the earth connection system and, in the event of lightning or possible short circuit current on the protected structure, direct the current to the earth connection system. Polarization cells are mounted in series on the protected structure and ground connection system. Polarization cells are designed and fabricated on the basis of different amperages and passing current projections of the earth connection system as shock current and the most common ones are 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 kA (shock current) amps.

The liquid polarization cell consists of a PVC box containing nickel sheets immersed in saturated KOH solution.

Borna Electronics Co. declares its readiness to design and manufacture liquid polarization cell based on the requests of respected clients or project needs.
